Getting Started
Overview
Gradeum is an AI-powered platform for engineering firms and government agencies. It provides document intelligence, practice management, and asset management — all running on your own infrastructure. Your documents never leave your network.
How Gradeum Works
Gradeum consists of two components: the Gradeum Nexus (an on-premise service that runs on your server) and the Gradeum Platform (the web application your team uses daily). Nexus indexes your documents locally — PDFs, drawings, specifications, calculations, inspection records. When a user asks a question, Nexus retrieves relevant excerpts and passes them to multiple independent AI models for synthesis via Gradeum Consensus. The answer is returned with full source attribution: document name, page number, section, and date of record.
Products
Praxis is built for licensed engineering firms. It includes document Q&A, drawing intelligence, PE review workflows, time tracking, resource forecasting, proposal intelligence, and document production. Every output passes through a PE review queue with responsible charge logging.
Civitas is built for government agencies. It includes asset registry, condition tracking, field inspections (offline-capable), work order pipeline, capital planning, board briefings, and document intelligence. Every action is tied to an asset record with a complete audit trail.
Implementation
Standard implementation takes 5 business days:
• Day 1–2: Nexus installation on your server, network configuration, initial document ingestion
• Day 3–4: Indexing and OCR processing of your document archive
• Day 5: User training, role configuration, and go-live
Nexus indexes most document libraries (up to 50,000 documents) within 48 hours. Larger archives may require additional time. Your team is operational by the end of the week.
System Requirements
The Gradeum Nexus requires:
• Operating System: Ubuntu 22.04 LTS or later, Windows Server 2019 or later
• CPU: 4+ cores recommended
• RAM: 16 GB minimum, 32 GB recommended
• Storage: 50 GB for Nexus plus space for your document index (approximately 10% of raw archive size)
• Network: Outbound HTTPS access to Gradeum AI endpoints
• Ports: 8001 (Nexus API), 443 (outbound only)
The platform web application runs in any modern browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari).
Pricing
The Gradeum platform is free. You pay only for AI compute — billed at compute cost plus a 15% platform fee. There are no per-seat fees, no tiers, and no feature gating. Every feature is available to every user.
Typical query cost: $0.01–$0.08 depending on document complexity and the number of excerpts retrieved.
